The Second Mile Society

An unforgettable act of courage and compassion that unfolded on the slopes of Mount Everest inspired the creation of the society. Adventurer Dan Mazur, standing just 1,000 feet from achieving his lifelong dream of summiting the world’s tallest peak, made a decision that would change his life and save someone else’s. Against all odds, he and his team turned back from their climb to rescue a critically injured climber, Lincoln Hall, abandoned in the treacherous "Dead Zone." This incredible act of sacrifice exemplifies the heart of our mission: to prioritize the well-being of others, even when it demands extraordinary courage and personal cost.
